Not a One Woman Gig

I have contemplated doing this for some time and now that my kids are older and more independent there is no time like the present......I AM GOING ON STRIKE!

I have listened to women, as well as myself, consistently complain about the lack of help they receive from their spouses and kids, especially from women who also work outside the home. There is a misguided conception that we, as wives and mothers, are suppose to be some sort of "super women" and what's really sad is that we must believe it too, why else would we continue to kill ourselves trying to meet that standard?  Well if you are a christian its because you are trying to be a Proverbs 31 woman, who by the way might possibly not even be a woman at all but rather the personification of wisdom that is referred to as a her throughout the book of Proverbs. Honestly I don't believe there is any way, with all of our differences and talents, and lack of talents, that any one of us could meet all those standards described in Proverbs 31 and when we try, and consistently fail, it only discourages us and makes us feel like we are never going to be the woman God wants us to be and I don't believe God would ever set us up for failure. Do I believe there should be a standard? Absolutely, but that standard should not be a respector of persons but one for all God's children, men and women alike. What is the point of having a help-mate and family members if you are doing most of the work alone? Yeah it does not make sense to me either. There is not a  team out there that can win without the collective efforts and contributions of every team member,  is not the family a team?
As our family comes into our next virtue - thankfulness, they will also be informed of my strike and what that strike will look like my prayer that my family will come to see that in order to be a team we must all play our parts, cause a family is not a one woman gig!
